Guidelines for trace element application rate was taken fran Schailer,
F.W. & Paul Sutton; Reclamation of Drastically Disturbed Lands, ASA,
CSSA, SSSA; Madison, Wisconsin, Chapter 20, pp 355-376; 1978.
The preceding trace mineral loading rate calculation describes the
amount of sludge that would have to be applied to exceed the guide-
lines for the amounts of trace minerals allaaable. The proposed ap-
plication rate is 21 tons/acre, which is belv~u the reccnaresided guide-
lines.
c. Loading Rate of Cadium
EPA guidelines for maximimi Ca rate = 1.25 kg/ha
Cadium content of sludge = 0.45 ppm Ca
.0045 Ca x 2000 #/ton = .090 # Ca/ton sludge
100 (conversion from ~)
Area of proposed sludge application = 500 acres
.090 # Caton x 21 tons/AC = 1.89 # Ca/AC
1 # __ 1.89 #/AC = 0.856 kg/AC
1453 kg x kg
1 AC = ,856 kg/AC = 0.347 kg/ha
.405 Ha
The addition of Ca to the soil by the application of sewage sludge will
be 0.347 Kg/ha, which is belay the EPA guideline of 1.25 Kg/ha.
