III III III IIIIIII III <br />ACR <br />ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REQUES'CED <br />BY THE OFFICE OF <br />SURFACE MINING: <br />Socioeconomics <br />Upon completion of the Office of Surface Mining completenzss review of the <br />Empire Energy mine plan, a technical environmental analysis will be <br />undertaken. To comply wi[h the National Environmental Policy Act, OSM must do <br />n socioecono~ni.c assessment of the potential impact of the operation of the <br />mine nn surrounding comnwnities. Although the mine is an existing operation, <br />the following information would be useful Co OSM's assessment: <br />Number of mining employees (contraction, if any, and operation) <br />by year far the life of the mine and how they (generally) <br />commute to work, i.e. carpool, privatte auto, company b.lu~s,n etc. <br />Also , average ca~cJ. S~~v.~ .•.~~rc.nw.cup tn~ ;,~.~~ 17Q t~eCxx. <br />2. Any socioeconomic assessment, surveys, e[c., that the company <br />has participated in or is aware of relating the mine to <br />surrounding communities. <br />3. Any information you may have concerning where existing and/or <br />future employees may reside. <br />4. Any data the company can provide concerning Che tax revenues <br />contributed to the local and regional economy. <br />It also would bz helpful iE the company would provide OSM with documentation <br />of nny past and/or future contributions or assistance given to communities <br />surrounding tV~e mine (e.g., financial contributions, employee transportation <br />system, housing assistancz to employees, etc.). <br />~. <br />
