I spoke with Greg Reed earlier today, and I
have attempted to provide all information needed for the consultation process to proceed.
The proposed Bowie No. 2 Mine is generally located in portions of Sections 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11,
14, 15, and 16, Township 13 South, Range 91 West, 6th P.M. This area is approximately
five miles northwest of Paonia, in Delta County, Colorado. The permit area encompasses approxi-
mately 2327 acres. The mine will disturb private surface, and mining will occur in private coal.
Enclosed with this letter are the following items:
- Fish and Wildlife Section of the permit application
- Previous U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service correspondence
- Threatened and endangered species report
Your assistance in expediting this process would be greatly appreciated.
