After investigating the area above the refuse site, it was found
that bedrock is within 0-3 feet below the surface over most of the area,
which was verified during the construction of watershed diversion ditch ~2.
It appears that a well in this area would be impractical and provide no
additional information. The type and stability of the bedrock can be deter-
mined from exposures of the rock at various places along the hillside and the
northern rim of the highwall.
It is requested that the drilling of the well above the refuse site be
waived for the reasons stated. The well drilled below the toe of the refuse
facility will provide the necessary data on groundwater levels and quality.
If there are any questions, please call.
.~ `~ ~
~~ ~ s ~:~ xn..
5~F 23 1982
GL/s
wflivEL LA~iD Rc!,LA iAlh:N
Co!e.
