ge 2
September 21, 1984
Mr. Dan Afa[hews, Dept. Natural Resources
7. We feel no backfill of the Pit 4 haul road needs to be anticipated.
The yardage you assumed is greater than the entire yardage used to
construct the road.
8. lr'o cos[ needs to be anticipated for the removal of the metal building
and associated area clean-up. We feel that in the worst case the
cost of this work would be that the building would be given to the
demolition contractor for the work performed. In reality, we would
expect that there would be positive salvage value from the demoli-
tion of the building.
9. We would generally agree with the assumptions regarding the reclama-
tion of sediment poinds at pits 2 and 3, however, we still feel the
hourly costs are excessive. Using the more realistic Caterpillar
costs, we would arrive at $9,670.00 for this work.
10. We would not expect any reduction of main haul road width would be
necessary.
Our summary of the various anticipated costs would then be:
Pit 4 Reclamation $162,478.00
9,345.00
Pit 6 Reclamation -0-
Pit 1, 2, 3, and 5 Reclamation 9,430.C0
Shop removal -0-
Sediment Pond 2 and 3 Reclamation 9,670.00
Haul Road Reclamation -0-
Main Road Reclamation -0-
$190,923.00
We would suggest that the above would more accurately represent the amount
which should be required to be bonded.
lde look forward to discussing this with you in more detail.
Sincerely
TED/dp
Thomas E.
