,•
June 23, 1981
Storm King Mines, Inc.,
3335 West 48th Avenue,
Denver,
Colorado 80212
Gentlemen:
As you are aware, about eight years ago, a•brush fire
burned nearly the whole south slope of Horse Mountain,
much of which is owned by the City of Glenwood Springs.
The major problem in fighting this fire was the lack of
access to the area. By the time trails were dozed into
the area, the fire was out of control and had 'to be al-
lowed to burn itself out.
~,~ The burn area has now recovered normally and is cover-
ed by scrub oak, squawapple, etc. Your. drill roads across
the south face of the mountain give excellent access to
the area and would be invaluable in moving fire fighting
equipment quickly into place should fire again occur on
the mountain.
Therefore, the City of Glenwood Springs requests that
the roads as they now exist be left in place for fire
control purposes.
Sincerely,
Meredith Flinn
CITY MANAGER
~--- MF/ar October.25, 1984
4-12h
