DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
Davitl H. Getches, Executive Director
MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
DAVID C. SHELTON, Director
Richartl D. Lamm
Governor
February 14,1984
Memo
To: Ed Bischoff/Dorchester No.l File
From: Bob Liddle
The following is a summary of the outstanding Issues with regard to the
pending Dorchester No. 1 decision.
1. We still need Dorchester to solicit comments from J. Thompson, surface
owner, concerning the post-mining land use.
2. The contents of annual hydrologic reports will need to be discussed.
Dorchester is not committing to reevaluating the PHC yearly, instead they want
to summarize data.
3.Dorchester needs to supply water quantity data for Oak Creek for the
Division to complete the PHC prior to permit issuance. We discussed this in
past meetings but they never responded with data.
4. We need to discuss the issue of the Thompson well with Dorchester. We need
information from Dorchester on the aquifer location, characteristics, and
probable impacts from dewatering and subsidence. We will probably need a more
detailed water replacement plan.
5. Dorchester still has not supplied a complete hydrology map. We need to
discuss the specifics of map requirements with them.
6. Jim Pendleton needs to review the portal sealing, road stability, angle of
draw, and subsidence report format responses from Dorchester. I did not revise
these topics in the findings document pending his review.
7. The issue of undermining Thompson ranch and mining adjacent to the park
will need to be discussed with Dorchester.
8. I am proposing a bond amount which is appr. E80,000 more than Dorchester
proposed. We will probably need to discuss this with them.
At this point the document 1s ready to turn back to Dorchester. However, we
could also wait until Jim reviews his sections and I could quickly revise the
document with his and your comments when I return Friday, Feb. 7,1984. If it
is to gD out the secretary needs to reformat the document to fit the new
printer.
The document and this memo is on my disk to my "1n" basket.
Doc. 9377E
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel.
