Is this corrzct"
5~1\ ~~ Fill 9 pond designs (Ex 1~-11)
a) The Division notes that the effluent sediment concentration predicted be the
SEDCAD- model is relativeh close to the maximum allowed effluent sediment
~ concentration. This does not appear to be attributable to a high percentaee of cla}
siied particles in the disturbed watershed. Although the Division kill acczpt this
desitin information. it ma.' be .vise to verily the desitin information and evaluate
possible changes to brin_ the predicted effluent sediment concentration do~~n.
Response
P1P2 Portal
• ~ a. Figure Ex. ld-1 has been modified [o show D8, to specify ditch directions a[ the
P1P'_ portal and to clear up some uncertainties associated with the southern clean
water ditches (C~VDS-1 and 2). This has been cross-checked with Table 1~-1. and
chanties made accordineh .
b. The lowest elevation of the orifice for the P1P2 pond (No. 011) has been modified
on Figure Ex. 1~-1-1 to 6851.x'.
c. The elevation-discharge and elevation-area-capacity-dischartie curves for the P1P?
pond runs are attached.
d. The hydrograph detention time can not be increased as the run assumes a constant
maximum mine water discharge of 3 cfs.
e. There is a permanent pool due to the constant mine water discharge from the mine
and the constant dischartie from the riser.
f'. Culvert 180+9~ is shown on both itfap ?.05.3-3 and on Figure Ex. 16-1. as are the
other three cuherts associated with this portal (160+40. 165+73, and 172~d9).
• ~_ LCC respectively requests tha[ the Division reconsider the request fur 100-year
ditches around [he temporary overburden stockpiles. The regulations require such
protection for permanent excess spoil bank or coal mine waste fills. tills
13
