Dept. of Natural Resources
Ms. Carol Russell
Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division
1313 Sherman Street #423
Denver, Colorado 80203
Re: Notification of Minor Change in the Surface Facilities Area
Dear Carol:
An on-going problem at the Dorchester #1 Mine has been the handling and disposal of
trash and scrap material. Recently, mine personnel made a modification in the
trash handling procedure which should be a significant improvement. Although the
change was minor, it was felt that MLR should be notified. The change will permit
the dumping of trash and scrap material directly into a trailer which will eliminate
double handling problems and the unsightly appearance of the former trash area.
The modification entails construction of a bench area (approximate dimensions
10'x50') adjacent to the Magpie Creek Diversion in the equipment laydown area
west of the mine portal area.
The location and approximate dimension of the bench are shown on the attached
map. A ramp has been constructed along the diversion to permit dumping of the
waste material directly into the trailer.
It was necessary to disturb a small portion of the reclaimed area along the
diversion during construction of the bench area. Soil material was salvaged,
however, from the area disturbed and was placed in the topsoil stockpile area.
Minor reseeding around the perimeter of the bench will be conducted this fall.
Please call Mr. Jim Ericson or me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
F
Dean R.
