Is the pro posed cropland seed mix comparable and compatible with mixes
~ ,
' utilized and/or recommended for areas adjacent to the Energy II3 Mine?
Response: The proposed cropland seed mixture (Table 43) is comparable and
' compatible with the mixes utilized for areas adjacent to the Energy II3 mine.
These areas are dominated by cropland on three sides as shown on Map II9, Energy
' Mine No. 3 Land Use. Grasses dominate the cropland seed mixture with 83% rela-
tive composition ; this is comparable with the relative composition of the crop-
' land vegetation types (Tables 14, 15) in which grasses also represent 83Y. The
species used in the mixture are well adapted to the area and have been used
' extensively for both hay production and grazing by livestock, the current and
post-mining land uses described in 2.04.3, 2.05.4(2) and 2.05.5(1).
' 2. Herbicide and pesticide application and rate must be approved by the Divi-
sion at such time as their use becomes necessary.
Response: Prior to the application of any herbicide or pesticide, approval
will be obtained from the Division as to the chemical and rate of material
applied.
-3-
;,.~
