_~,~. <br />.~, <br />NOTICE OF PROPOSED DECISION <br />The Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division proposes to approve with <br />stipulations an application for a permit to conduct coal mining and <br />reclamation operations submitted by the Rockcastle Company for the Grassy Gap <br />No. 1 Mine. <br />The Rockcastle operation is located in Routt County, approximately 7 miles <br />South of Hayden, Colorado. The mine is an existing surface mine with an <br />anticipated maximum production level of 360,000 tons per year. Both the coal <br />to be mined and surface to be affected are privately owned. The permit area <br />encompasses approximately 1080 acres in Sections 20, 21, 28, 29, 31, and 32, <br />and a haul road traversing portions of Sections 15, 16, 20 and 21, all in TSn, <br />R87W of the 6th p.m. <br />This proposed approval decision is based on a finding that the proposed <br />operation will comply with all requirements of the Colorado Surface Coal <br />Mining Reclamation Act, CRS 1913, 34-33-101 et seq., and the regulations <br />promulgated thereunder. <br />Copies of the proposed decision including stipulations, are on file for public <br />inspection at the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Divison, 423 Centennial <br />Building, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado, 80203 and at the County <br />Clerks Office in the Routt County Courthouse in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. <br />Persons with an interest that may be adversely affected by the proposed <br />decision may request a formal hearing before the Mined Land Reclamation Board <br />on the proposed decision. Such request must be made within thirty (30) days <br />of the initial publication of this notice, must be in writing, and must state <br />with reasonable specificity the reasons for the request and the objections to <br />the proposed decision. <br />Doc. 4690 <br />
