_~,~.
.~,
NOTICE OF PROPOSED DECISION
The Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division proposes to approve with
stipulations an application for a permit to conduct coal mining and
reclamation operations submitted by the Rockcastle Company for the Grassy Gap
No. 1 Mine.
The Rockcastle operation is located in Routt County, approximately 7 miles
South of Hayden, Colorado. The mine is an existing surface mine with an
anticipated maximum production level of 360,000 tons per year. Both the coal
to be mined and surface to be affected are privately owned. The permit area
encompasses approximately 1080 acres in Sections 20, 21, 28, 29, 31, and 32,
and a haul road traversing portions of Sections 15, 16, 20 and 21, all in TSn,
R87W of the 6th p.m.
This proposed approval decision is based on a finding that the proposed
operation will comply with all requirements of the Colorado Surface Coal
Mining Reclamation Act, CRS 1913, 34-33-101 et seq., and the regulations
promulgated thereunder.
Copies of the proposed decision including stipulations, are on file for public
inspection at the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Divison, 423 Centennial
Building, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado, 80203 and at the County
Clerks Office in the Routt County Courthouse in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
Persons with an interest that may be adversely affected by the proposed
decision may request a formal hearing before the Mined Land Reclamation Board
on the proposed decision. Such request must be made within thirty (30) days
of the initial publication of this notice, must be in writing, and must state
with reasonable specificity the reasons for the request and the objections to
the proposed decision.
Doc. 4690
