Lachhead <br />Esecmive Director <br />Michael8 Lonq <br />Division Dueclor <br />As I discussed with you eazlier today, the Division is in need of additional information to complete <br />our estimate of reclamation costs associated with the Bowie No. 2 Mine. I appreciate your giving me <br />some of the information [needed, and understand you will need additional time to respond to the <br />remainder of my questions, which follow. Please provide additional information regazding [he <br />following. <br />1. The configuration of the proposed haul road has been revised since the application was <br />initially submitted. Please revise BRL's estimate of material cut and fill that will be required <br />to reclaim the width reduced portion of the haul road. <br />2. Please verify or revise B12L's estimate of the volume required to backfill the bench areas and <br />conveyor corridor. <br />3. Since the current proposed reclamation plan calls for compaction of backfilled materials <br />(benches, conveyor corridor, roads), these costs will need to be included in the estimate of <br />reclamation costs. Please provide details regarding specific compaction requirements (lift <br />thickness, number of passes to achieve compaction, etc.) so that an estimate of costs can be <br />derived. <br />4. In order to verify compaction of backfilled azeas to permit requirements, field testing would <br />have to be conducted. Please provide an estimate of the number of tests necessary and their <br />associated costs. <br />Drainage plans have also been revised since the permit was submitted, resulting in changes to <br />the proposed culvert lengths.
