9.15 Revegetation
4.15.1 General Requirements
4.15:1(3) Regarding fencing requirements, Wyoming Fuel Company
will control domesitc livestock access to all pit
areas and areas under revegetation.
4.15.1(4) On July 17, 1981, D1ike Savage stated he would supply
Wyoming Fuel Company with Kerr Coal Company's monitor-
ing program. Wyoming Fuel Company would then review
this monitoring program and determine its applicability
to Wyoming Fuel Company's needs.
4.15.2 Use of Introduced Species
Pubescent wheatgrass was seeded in 1980 at the Canadian
Strip Mine. Pubescent wheatgrass replaced Crested
wheatgrass in the proposed 1980 seed mix by recommendation
of C. Wayne Cook, former department head of Range Science
at Colorado State University. At present, there are no
findings in North Park as to whether Pubescent wheatgrass
will dominate the revegetated stand. Wyoming Fuel Company
will monitor the growth of Pubescent wheatgrass and if
necessary control its rate of spread if problems arise.
4.15.5 Grazing
Premining grazing is managed by the BLM as addressed in
the Environmental Assessments in Appendix H of the
application.
PostJnining grazing during the last two years of the
liability period will be controlled by Wyoming Fuel
Company. The results of the proposed monitoring program
will be used to determine stocking rates at the time
grazing is allowed on the revegetated area.
4.15.6 Field Trials
Wyoming Fuel Company understands that termination of
annual soil fertilization testing is not automatic
after 3 years. Wyoming Fuel Company will at our own
discretion utilize field trials to our best advantage
in order to obtain a vegetative cover as required by
the regulations.
4.15.7 Revegetation
4.15.7 Determining Revegetation Success: General Requirements
On July 17, 1981, Wyoming Fuel Company and Mike Savage
examined Figures 2F and 3F of the application and it was
determined these maps were adequate to define the points
of data collection.
-16-
