Long
Division Dueclor
We have reviewed all materials submitted to date regarding the
above-referenced permit application. Nearly all of the previously
identified adequacy concerns have been resolved, with the
exceptions noted in our review letter dated December 27, 1996. We
believe that the pending issues can and will be resolved in the
near future, and we anticipate that a proposed decision to approve
the application will occur during January or early February of next
year.
The most substantive issues which remain to be resolved involve a
showing that the operational and reclaimed site configurations will
be geotechnically stable. We understand that additional materials
will be submitted soon. Based upon the discussions during our
meeting of December 5, 1997, we anticipate that Bowie Resources
Limited can effectively address the pending issues. We will
endeavor to review the pending materials as expeditiously as
possible, to determine whether we can proceed with an approval
decision.
Your cooperation and diligence throughout the review process have
been very much appreciated. Please call with any questions, or if
we can be of any assistance.
Si
ironmental Protection Specialist
