. ,:

Me/Re:FMC-Revw Soil 8 Veg Bsln Data - 4 - June 12, 1986
2. Both the Baseline Vegetation Survey and the Supplemental Vegetation
Survey specified that no threatened or endangered species were observed
during the 1982 and 1983 sampling seasons. However, a disclaimer was
mentioned that "It is unlikely that these species would be identifiable
during the late summer sampling season even if present". To insure the
non-presence of threatened or endangered species, the applicant should
resurvey the site for the potential threatened or endangered species as
soon as possible this field season. The results of this resurvey
should then be forwarded to the Division.
3. The concerns for vegetation maps delineating surface disturbance areas
for both the North and Eastern leases as addressed in the original PAR
has yet to be addressed. The applicant should submit these required
maps.
4. Some discussion is missing from the first paragraph on page 3 of the
General Vegetation discussion of Volume 4. Please provide a new page 3
with this missing text. ~ ~ '
5. As addressed in 2.04.9 Soils Resource Information, the Division is
concerned that all areas to be disturbed by the mining operation be
properly sampled. Therefore, the applicant should verify that the
Vegetation Maps and associated vegetation sampling do in fact cover all
areas proposed to be disturbed. If not, additjonal sampling should be
done.
cc: Michael Savage
/dlm
1190E
