.... .
Blue Ribbon Coal Company shall use the following species diversity
• criteria for the purpose of determining reclamation success:
(a) Using relative cover or relative production values for
each species, the reclaimed areas shall have at least
five (5) perennial species with relative importance
equal to or greater than 3%, but with all five (5)
species combined not to exceed 75% in relative impor-
tance and with any one of these 5 species not to exceed
40% in relative importance.
(b) The five (5) perennial species used in determining
compliance with success criterion (a) above shall con-
sist of our (4) species of cool season grasses and
one (1) forb species.
(c) The reclaimed areas shall exhibit at least two (2)
• species of reestablished shrubs. The relative impor-
tance of any reestablished shrub species (based on
woody plant density measurements) shall not exceed 80%.
Due to the variable nature of annual production as a result of
climatic variability, difficulty may arise in achieving the production success
standard in an abnormally dry year. Blue Ribbon Coal Company may choose Co
develop a reference area in consultation with the Division and the Office of
Surface Mining which closely mimics the characteristics of the proposed west
facing post-mining surface. If this option is followed for determination of
revegetation success, Blue Ribbon will apply for and obtain Division approval
prior to initiation of reclamation.

113i (Rev. 7/12/82)
