The trench will be approximately 100' long, 20' wide, and 20' deep. <br />The excavated material will be separated into three stockpiles; burning material, <br />unburned coal, non-cumbustible soil and rock. The trench will then be backfilled with <br />the non-combustible soil and rock to create a barrier between the highway and the mine <br />fire. Additional fill material will be taken from nearby slopes to restore the disturbed <br />area to its original contour. Any excavated burning material will be quenched with water <br />and covered with fill; any unburned coal will be disposed of or covered by fill.
