GEOLOGY. - - <br />There is no good geological survey of the district. <br />The country rock consists of a gneissic or banded granite, <br />I!~ cut by a fissure vein system, having a general course ranging <br />from T1, E, and S, lY, on one hand, and E. and ;7, on the other, <br />together crith intrusive dykes of porphyry. <br />The vein filling consists of gold and silver bearing <br />iron pyrite and chalcopyrite occuring in streaks (known <br />as smelting ore) and also disseminated through a quartzose <br />,and feldspathic gangue, knot;n as "mill ore". <br /> <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br /> <br />
