MINING AND MINE METHODS. <br />The main opening is the Hlackey incline shaft, same <br />being located on ridge east of Elk Park, and being an incline <br />two compartment shaft, (skip and ladder road) dipping to the <br />I <br />IN.I7, at angles varying from 60, to 25°, becoming flatter with <br />jdepth. Depth of shaft, 200 ft. <br />The shaft has levels at a depth cf 60 ft., extending <br />!20J ft. east to breast, and 70 Pt. wrest to surface, same being <br />Adit level; at a depth of 125 ft., extending E~ 105 ft. and <br />I7. 50 ft.; and at a depth of 185 ft. extending E. 25 ft. <br />I7ork is being carried on at the present time at the <br />second or 125 ft. level, stoping on the south vein, east of <br />(shaft and driving the east level, and driving the third or <br />1185 ft, level east. <br />The hoisting is dyne by a skip attached to 5~8 in. <br />',steel cable, with socket fastening. 17eip~ht of load hoisted, <br />',2500 lbs.; distance hoisted, 185 feet. <br />The Colorado code of signals is ..employed, being <br />;given by a wire attached to a 10 inch gong. The tr&ck in <br />!skip road consists of 4 x 4 in. timbers covered with strap <br />iron. <br />PSine methods, drifting and over hand stoping, using <br />(single and double hand drilling. <br />i <br />Timbering, stall and set, using red spruce and <br />pine prepared by hand. <br />Underground tramming, one ton steel cars- trackage <br />12 pound rails, 18 inch guage. <br />Drainage. The vrater is hoisted by a skip, it being <br />necessary to hoist about 25 skips per day. <br />Ventilation, natural. <br />Sanitary conditions, good. <br />Exit may be had from workings by ahaffr through adit <br />level,•thenee through same to surface. <br />Underground lighting, candles. <br />
