GEOLOGY. _ ~~ - 3 <br />i <br />There is no good geological survey of the district. <br />The country rock consists of a gneissic or banded granite, cut <br />by a fissure vein system, having a general course ranging <br />i <br />from 2I.E, and S.?7, on one hand; and E, and t'7. on the other, <br />!together tiYith intrusive dykes of porphyry. <br />The vein filling consists of gold and silver bear- <br />ling iron pyrite and chalcopyrite occuring in streaks (knoRn <br />as smelting Orel and also disseainated through a quartzoae <br />and feldspathic gangue, :rnorrn as "mill ore". • <br />f , <br /> <br /> <br />v <br /> <br />I <br />'v <br />1 <br />.. <br />`~^i <br />(. <br />
