MINING qND MINE METHODS.
The main shaft is of tvro compartments, sunk ou the vein and
inclines to the vrest. It is timbered with agttare seta, and is e_
quipped with a good larder. Landings are provided every 16 feet.
This shaft has not been vrorked for some time. I'fork is being carried
pn at the present time in the Climax Aio. 1, near the mine. Theca
vrorlangs are in the same vein =tnd underneath the old workings.
They have no mane.
Tunnel.
The tunnel is 4 1~2 x 7 i'eet and 1,300 feet from the entrance I~Yi
to the main basalt dyke, and 300 feet east to s chute and man-way
that leads to the miHrt stope and shaft. This connects by upraiaoe
with the rEgy shaft. The buildint.;s are near the mouth of the +,ur:nel ~I
and on both sides. The blacksmith shop is to the left, and com-

pressor and motor room to the right of the entrance. Thsre are no ~~~
doors at the entrance of the tunnel, but they vrero order placed ICI
