TABLE TWO -- Huerfano County <br />MINE NAME COMMENTS ON FEA <br />Pacific Colorado Division of Mines, production records notes that in 1972 the air shaft was filled <br />and the area bulldozed over (reference 3). <br />Pictou Z: Production from the Cameron, Walsen and Robinson beds (reference 2). <br />S: Subsidence area south of Pictou Main Slope has more than 50 pits 20'-50' across and 4'-10' <br />deep. Water erosion has breached many of the pits, giving the area a complex drainage <br />pattern. <br />Pinion S: Pinion No. 1 Mine has subsidence pit 30' across, 20' deep over slope and 20'x30'x10' deep <br />Nos. 1, 3 pit at old air shaft location. Pinion no. 3 Mine entry is large 100' diameter and 30' deep <br /> pit. Nearby air shaft pit is 40 'x60'x5' deep. <br />Pinion *: One horizontal opening and one v ertical opening. Opening of ad it is about 3' high and 3' <br />No. 2 wide. It goes into hillside an unknown distance. No access deterrent. Air shaft is about <br /> 5'x5'x20' deep. Barbed wire fen ce around shaft is ineffective deterrent. <br /> (Pinion iEl and tE2) Reclamation for Spring 1983. A large eroded shaft entry and four <br /> subsidence pits were backfilled using riprap and spoil material from a nearby waste pile. <br /> Backfilled areas were topsoiled and marked with steel pipe monuments set in concrete. The <br /> waste pile was regraded and all compacted work areas were ripped.
