Knowlton, Pdanager, <br />It is imperative that a drift be run at a paint <br />about 30 feet below the collar of the shaft in the ladder vray <br />to the suri'ace, or to a point beyond the shaft house and a raise <br />to tho surface and that the said ladder way be securely bullc- <br />hoaded at a point tvrerity-five foot below the collar of the shaft. <br />That the 'ladder way be tightly partitioned off from tho <br />hoisting compartment and that a11in all man ways be put in as the <br />law provides. <br />That the'°e be no povrder kept in tho abaft houao, ongine <br />room, boiler room or in any other building attached to same. And ; <br />that all powder be thawed in a device, built i'or that purpose <br />only. <br />That the abaft timL•er be properly lagged from the top to <br />the bottom and that all level stations bo timbened in a minor lilco <br />manner. <br />That the abaft at all level stations ba providod with a pass <br />way around the same, where vrork is carried on, on both sides of <br />tho shaft. <br />It is rrocessary that ladder way. bo ropaired at one, from <br />file J'aet that there is no other way of exit, should fire occur <br />to tho shaft house. <br />3IO,IPn M.
