It is imperative that a drift be run at a paint
about 30 feet below the collar of the shaft in the ladder vray
to the suri'ace, or to a point beyond the shaft house and a raise
to tho surface and that the said ladder way be securely bullc-
hoaded at a point tvrerity-five foot below the collar of the shaft.
That the 'ladder way be tightly partitioned off from tho
hoisting compartment and that a11in all man ways be put in as the
law provides.
That the'°e be no povrder kept in tho abaft houao, ongine
room, boiler room or in any other building attached to same. And ;
that all powder be thawed in a device, built i'or that purpose
only.
That the abaft timL•er be properly lagged from the top to
the bottom and that all level stations bo timbened in a minor lilco
manner.
That the abaft at all level stations ba providod with a pass
way around the same, where vrork is carried on, on both sides of
tho shaft.
It is rrocessary that ladder way. bo ropaired at one, from
file J'aet that there is no other way of exit, should fire occur
to tho shaft house.
