MINING AND MINE METHODS.
The main opening on theproperty is the main cross-cut tunnel 5}:7 ft,th e
mouth of which is on tha north aide of wagon road on the Elizabeth lode,
The tururel has a northerly course mm~ing into V/ood hlountain,cutting the
Zopher vein at 900 tt.a::d the PranY,lin vein at 1200 ft.
}Jo examiruition was made of any workings other than tha main tunnel into
the Zopher vein and thosa on the same as there is no wor}: being carried
on elsewhere at the present time.
The Zopher vein has considerable drifting and stoping done on and above
the tunnel level.
The Zopher shaft on Zopher veirr~aouth of which is on tunnel level 75 ft,
west of point where tunnel cuts said vein,5R9 ft,two compartmentsrbucket
and ladder :cay,230 ft,deep,dippiag to the Morth at an angle of f;0°.
Shaft has levels at:-
SO ft.,extending east l0U ft.,and west 100 ft.
150 ii.,extending east 200 ft.,and west 125 ft.
230 ft.,extendirrg east 90 ft,,and west 75 ft.
F9orY, is being carried on at the present time do the 150 ft,level west
and the 230 ft, level both easi and west,
}laps and drawings are in possession °f superintendent.
hoisting is done with bucketrweig}rt of load hoisted 1500 ;s,bucket being
attached to sjae steel cable 4 months old,with safety chain and socket
fastening,
Tranming is done by trammer signals being given to engineer with .° wire
bell line attached to ~° gong. ino Colorado code of signals are employed.
The skid way consists of triangular savred strips nailed on bed plan};,
The method of mining employed is that of overA.and stoping using 2$° Sullivan
and Shaw hand air drills and single hand drilling.
The atull and drift set systom of timbering is employequaing red spruce
and pine. Cornish lip chutes are used.
The underground tramming is done by bucket and trolley below the tunnel
lovel and one ton steel cars drewn by t~vo burros on the tunnel level.
Trackage 12 :t and 20 # steel rails-1S° guage.
