At a distanoe:of 400' from the portal the Good Hope <br />vef;n is intereeoted anfl drifts ran eeet 76' snd west 600! on this <br />vein. Siz hundred feet from the portal of the tunnel the Ontsria <br />vein Se intereeoted 'ands drift has been run on this vein 200' . <br />in,eouthweeterly direction. Bo etoping has been~dohe on any of <br />thQ veins except the Oood Hope veitt. <br />Tho only aotivo work carried ott nt this time io etoping <br />on .the Good Hopo vein at a dietanoe of 460' from the portal of <br />the tunnel. <br />Bo additional exit le provided se there ere no buildings <br />at or near the portal of the tunnel and no danger from resulting <br />fi;e by accident from tho some. <br />The method of ore extraction le by drii'ting and overhand <br />etoping. Bo machine drills'are employed and only single hand <br />dri111n~ is done. <br />The method employed for timbering is stttlle ooYered with <br />Lag~ing;t in the drifts and poste snd oaps in the tunnel. The tim- <br />~ere arc prepared by hand from red apruoe, are in good condition <br />tnd euffioient in eiae snd number to insure safety. ' <br />Ohutee are loaded by hand an8 gravity. <br />Undargrotmd'tramming is done by hand. Steel Dare are em- <br />~leyed and the trackage ie 18" gunge and 12~ T rails. <br />Drainage and ventilation are natural. The ventilation 1e <br />and no noaioue geese are met with.
