__, ~., <br /> <br />THE MAXWPsLL CONCENTRATING MILL <br />Silver Plmme, Colo, December 19, 1899. <br />Located about one half mile west of the Town of Silver Plume in <br />Clear Creek, Canon, at as altitude of nine thousand two hundred (9,200) <br />Yaet.p~'A. Haswell, owner. <br />The mill is built oa the Mendota ground. Mr. Maxwell has s lease on <br />the dump and the old atppae of the Mendota Mine, and the mill is built for <br />the purpose of treating this class oY ores. Auaoan Drummond ie Superintendent, <br />Duetoat, Blo. This mill is a ooneentrating prooess making three dietinat <br />separations of lead, iron end zinc. The motor power is eleotriaity; the first <br />of the kind in Clear Creek County, and the separating process is perhaps the <br />first of the kind in the State. The power ie transmitted from Georgetown, two <br />miles distant, with two thousand volts, transformed at the mill to fifty-five <br />volts. From the IInited Light & Power Company. The mill is in three sections, <br />can run ore on three aeotione at a time, or I should say ell together. <br />The mill house is 40 x 60 feet, two stories high. <br />The ore ie first fad into dodge orueher of 76tons oapaoity in 24 hours. <br />From the crusher down the mill ie automatio. The ore rune from orueher to <br />one set oY high speed rolls, thence by elevator to one sizing screen of wire <br />oloth of 8 x 14 mesh; Prom screen to three hydraulio sizers, and Yrom the <br />eizars to the different Hertz ~ige, of whioh there are Yive; four of whioh <br />are Your oompartment, and one three oompartment. All materials too enures <br />to peas through the mesh of the screen returns by gravity to a set of re- <br />grinding rolls and then goes through the prooess above mentioned and des- <br />cribed. There is one MoCoy table but sot in use. The first oompartment <br />of all the ,jigs oatohae the lead, the second oompartment the iron, the third <br />oompartment iron and zino whioh is put book by hand to the first oompartment; <br />the Youri;h oompartment oatohae the zino s11 olear of iron and lead. The <br />fourth compartment of one dig oatohae the slimes Yrom all the ,jigs. <br />Three man on a shift rue the mill, a dig man and s helper and s Yse{ler`~ <br />oY the orueher. <br />The feeder gets $)2.60 per day 10 hours <br />The helper gets 02.60 par day 10 hours. <br />Thorn are three motors, two oY tan horsepower aaoh end one of tvranty <br />horsepower. All three transformers for Eransfor~ning the voltage. Thin <br />mill has only bean running five days, oonaequently 1t hoe not been deter- <br />minofl what saving is made.
