At a point 450' from 'the portal the tunnel inter- <br />seats the Golden-Age vein where drifts sre run east, 180' and <br />crest, 200'. Considerable atoping hea been done 1n these drifts. <br />At this tine the west drift is being extended and all of the <br />timbering throughout is being overhauled in the tunnel. <br />At a dlstanoe of 100' from where the tunnel interseota <br />the Goldon Age vein,and in the east drift, a orosa-out is run <br />to interseot the Eldridge vein where drifts are run east, 200' <br />and•west, 160'. At a distance of 100' from the intersection a <br />winze is sunk a distanee ot•193'. Ho work is oarried oa here. <br />IIot far from the breast of the east drift on the Golden <br />.. . <br />Age vein interseotion is made with a shaft sunk on the same <br />vein. This shaft is 800' in•depth, cribbed with-hewn timbers <br />for a distance of 300' from.the surface, divided into two oom- <br />partmonts for a ladder-wny and bucket-way,. and kept in good <br />~ oondition and properly equipped with eats, eeoure and aooeae- <br />iblo ladders. Ro work 1a done 1n tho shaft and it ie used only <br />for air and an additional ex1t. <br />Anothe exit is provided through the Centennial tunnel, <br />600' oast of tho Oolden Ago tunnel, through a drift that aon- <br />aeote the two tunnels.
