The cable is parried over <br />.: ~', <br />F curves on 8 in. iron sheaves set harisontally, while at the ends <br />I~,' of the track, it passes over 36" rope filled sheaves. <br />~f !. <br />The asr is loaded either with mine, or ore house <br />!~ waste from the bias, and starts for waste dumps east and west of <br />li shaft. Side door of car is automatically opened by trip block <br />I <br />~! being placed on track at point where dump is to be made. A man <br />~~ <br />~;' controls the haulage machinery at loading station, having an <br />y indicator showing the poaitioa of the car before him. <br />~I EXPLOSIVES. <br />~~ The explosive used, is a 40p, 1-1~8" blasting gelatine, which <br />is exploded by a XXXX cap. Climax and German Insoloid fuse is <br />~~ enployed. The explosives are stored in a stone vault, vrith an <br />iron door, built into the side of hill, and located 325 ft. N. E, <br />;~ of the mouth of the adit level. capacity, 1 carload, <br />~~ <br />The .powder is thawed in a building 9 g 14 ft. set into the dump, <br />i <br />~ and located about 200 ft. vrest of No. 1 shaft house. Same <br />i' is heated by exhaust steam to a temperature of 65~. <br />All'of the explosives far the mine, are handled from the above <br />61 <br />I vault and pawder'thawer, by men whose sole duty it is, to look <br />~i after same.
