<br />ORE BODIES AND ORES. <br />The vein Filling is a quartzose and feldspathic mixturelhighly silfficioue ands <br />carrying muds free quartzrthicY,ly imnrsgnated with iron and capper pyrites(in small <br />crystrls) usually ar.companied by a seam of of solidgold bearing iron and copper <br />pyrites varying in width from a few inches to several feet. _ <br />The gangue accompanying the ore is a soft.~whitisffi or pale greenish rocY..consisting <br />~, ~ _ <br />chiefly ofn aeeompooed or altered feldspathic material mixed vrith quartz and <br />when highly impregnated with pyrites constitutes the mill orelranging in vetlue <br />from ^G.00 per.ton up. <br />The concentrated seams of pyrites constitutes the smelting ore producing values in <br />,_~ ,.,,. <br />goldrsilver and in some instances copper. <br />Galena and aphalerite(blacY, ;jack occur very sparinglyland may not be regarded as <br />ore. <br />Toward the surfacerthe ores decompose through the action of otrsospheric and chemi- <br />_, . <br />cal agencies, The result of this decomposition in usually termed surface ore and <br />I consists largely~of a honey-combed quartz more or .less stained with the oxides of <br />•.. ., <br />iron containing the gold in a free state.
