<br />The vein filling consists of a quartzose and feldspathic mater-
<br />ial, impregnated with iron and copper pyrites, having associated

<br />tetrahidrite, carrying high values in ~°old, ancj;;s;pme, silver,,,

<br />q a frequent occurrence, pockets of same oocuring in ore
<br />chutes, and enhancing the value very rnaterxally, Sylvanite is to
<br />be found occasionally accompanying the latter, it being ~oY Yre-
<br />quent occurrance to `s'ee Sylvanite"and free gold'in''the sam~'s'pec=
<br />imen;:; ;(This is the only occurrence'of.Sy].venite'faund,.in trhe

<br />The ,quartz contained in the. fx•ee fold and the gr{ty copper (En-
<br />argite) seem to associate themselves with what is known as the

<br />south vein, while the ohalcopyrite and iron pyrite occupy the
<br />north'dein:~""The above oorletituting the two grad es`oP smelting ore,
<br />It may be stated here, that a gas'very highly charged'with carbon
<br />dioxide is frequently met with in tlxe north vein, while, it has
<br />never been observed in tlxe south. No satisfactory reason being at
<br />hand for the cause of same, Galena and enargite are found on
<br />tlxe 4©F3 S, level, Very little milling ore is mined. '
