May 7th, 1904. <br />The Peerless Gold & Copper Mining Co.' <br />163 Ia Belle Street, <br />Chicago, Ill. <br />Gentlemen:- <br />During the early part of January 1904, we had occasion <br />to inspect r~:,d investigate your properties located at Hillside, <br />Custer County, Colorado, in the Sangre De Christo Range. <br />The property consists oP 475 acres, 175 of vrhich is <br />timber land. There is 6,000 Peet of vein exposed on the surface; <br />which has been prospected and opened up in numerous places along <br />the surface. This vein, running in a northwest, southeast direo- <br />Lion, is made up oP numerous stringers oP ore aver a distance of, <br />some 200 Pest which parallel each other, pitching toward a common <br />center. this would indicate a yell defined are body in plane <br />beneath the oxidized zone, which would. probably ~o between 250 <br />to 300 Peet, There stringers aP ore vary in thiokneae Prom <br />6 inches to 1 foot in vridth, carrying values on an average oP <br />The ore is a copper pyrite, carrying gold and silver <br />values. Tho walls oi' the veins are oP porphyritio Formation. Wa <br />Pound every indlaation of a strong, true fissure vein, whioh <br />vrould indioata that the ors is 1n plaoe,vrith depth. <br />A tunnel being driven to out i;his vein at a depth oP <br />600 Peet below the surface is now in 1,0'00 Post, and will out <br />the main ore body between 1,600 fret and 1,600 Seet. <br />'Phis property is wolf equipped with suitable machinery <br />Por the rapid prosecution oP the work, whioh is being pushed in <br />a syetematio and minor-like way. The nature oP the ore bodies is <br />such that, with present msthod oP mining, it would admit oP very <br />slight neat iii production and treatment of the ore, c~nd being <br />within easy senses of the railroad, {:he oonoontrated product can <br />ba readily transported to the Reduction Works. <br />Tn oonalusion would saY that this proposition hoe the <br />ear marks of a oonservativo business entarprisa, and T Pae1 satis- <br />fiod will return h~ndsomo interest upon the investment. <br />very truly youxa, <br />
