- 2- <br />TITLE. <br />The props=ty is owned by the Alice ldining & ?Tilling <br />Company, and operated under lease and bond by Messrs. <br />Rolla and Schraeder, Idaho Springs, Colo. <br />HISTORY. <br />IS one of the c-iginal locations at the head of Fall <br />River, located is the early days of mining in the county. <br />Date of re-opening, summer of 1908. Situated at an <br />altitude of 10,100 feet, at thehead of Silver Creek. <br />Connaoted by wagon road to Dumont, Colo., and Idaho <br />Springs. <br />ORE BODIES. <br />Character of the ore body is an iron sulphide. The gener- <br />al strike is northeast and southwest, the voing being <br />from 380 to 400 feet in ~ridth. The vein:; filling is a <br />sllicous guar+,z, sulphide ore and granite boulders. Char- <br />acter of the ~valls are granite. The main body of the ore <br />is concentrating,ascd milling and amalgamating. <br />SURFACE FLANT. <br />Fower plant consists of two boilers, 30 and 40 h,p., us- <br />ing the Silver Creek water, One 30 h.p. and one 20 h.p. <br />stationary engine. One 36" Turbine water wheal, and one <br />Felton water wheel. One straight line Ingersoll air com- <br />presser, 12 x 14. One ?, h.p. generator for sleotrio lights. <br />Lighting is by eleatricity,and ckandles underground. <br />Method of the ore treatment, amalgamation, aonoentration <br />and smelting the concentrates. Mine has a large reduction <br />mill. Kind and grade of explosive used is 40~ Giant, <br />German fuse, wooden tamping bars supplied to employes. <br />Frame magazine located at 150 feat from tunnel edit, stor- <br />i <br /> <br />ing 250 lbs, of powder. <br />
