MINING AND MINE METHODS.
The Santiago vein is developed by four alit levels,
running in on the vein a distance of 100 ft. apart, in a S,'7.direotion
Adit level No,l, extends 75 ft. along the vein;
Adit level No.2, extends 500 ft slang the vein;
Adit level No,3, extends 585 ft along the vein;
Adit level No,4, extends 50 ft along the vein;
Adit levels Nos. 2, and 3, are connected with each other
by two winzes, while a raise is being driven from No. 2
,
and
t0 ecnnect• with NO. I, ,;irze is being sunk on No.3, to con-

nect vrith No.4.
The winzes connecting adit levels No.2, and 3, are
provided kith good ladder roads, though no stations are in
evidence..
The method of ore extraction, is that of overhand
stoping, single hand dritlls being employed.
The timbering consists of the ordinary drift, sets,
~.nd stulls, pine timber, prepared by hand, beirtg• employed.
'1 he underground tramming is done by hand, one ton
steol end dump cars, 12 lb. rail, 18° gauge being employed.
