<br />The main opening is an incline shaft, 6 x 8 ft. in clear, 450 ft,
<br />deep, and provided with a skip road, consisting of 6 x 6's, shod
<br />with iron straps, and a good ladder road. Said ladder road is
<br />not provided vrith at at ions as: it ie on the incline, The average
<br />dip of a shaft is 4b degrees to the north.
<br />The other workings consist of a 100 ft, level, called the 1st level,
<br />(old and abandoned) 230 ft. level, called the 2nd level, (old and
<br />abandoned) 330 ft, level, called the 3rd level, running 200 ft,
<br />wrest, and caned on the east. At a point 238 ft, S. I", of main
<br />shaft, a shaft is sunk on the vein, which connects with each of the
<br />above levels, thus serving as an air shaft and exit. At the
<br />present time, the only work carried on, is that of sinking the shaft.
<br />The hoisting is done with a one ton skip, 22" x 22" x 36", on vahich
<br />men are raised and lowered. Fleight of load hoisted, 2500~f, distance
<br />hoisted, 450 ft, A good 5~8^ steel cable, provided with socket,
<br />ie employed, same having been in use for one year. The bell line
<br />employed, is a wire line placed in skip rope, adjacent to the ladder-
<br />way, same being attached to gong. The Colorado code of signals is
<br />employed, though no copies of same v/ere found posted. The method
<br />of ore extraction employed, is that of over hand stoping, vaith hand
<br />drills. The timbering is square set (sawedl in shaft, s.nd stalled
<br />timbering in atopea- good red spruce and pine being employed, One
<br />ton steel end dumping care, are employed. 'fhe trac]c is furnished
<br />with 8f~ steel rails. The drainage is affected by hoisting 200 gals,
<br />water per hour, vrith skip. Ventilation, natural, and quite
<br />sufficient, Sanitary conditions, i'air. hxit is had by both
<br />main shaft, and shaft situated 23ES ft. west of same, which oon-
<br />neote vaith 1st, 2nd, and 3rd levels as above stated. Candles are
<br />used for lighting underground.
