MINING AND MINE METHODS.
`T'here are .three, 3 compartment shafts connected by alit
oa level with collar of No. 1 shaft and connected on various
levels underground also.

There are over 38 miles of drifts, cross-cuts, winzea
and shafts. '
The work is carried on at the present time on all levels
to the 1200 foot level of IIo. 2 Shaft.
The '"aps and drati:ings are all up to date.
At shaft No. 1. the hoisting is done by means od double deck
cages in Dountor balance; bt shaft ilo. 2. Three ton snips
in counter balance arc used and at No. 3 ~ single dock cage#
are used. the men arc raised and lowered by the hoisting
machinery.
At Shaft No. 1. the weight hoisted is 2800 pounds; at PIo.2.
4200 pounds; and at ho. 3. 1400 pounds. The maximum dis-

tance hoisted is 1500 tent.
6t Shaft No. 1. the cable consists of 1-1~8 in round; at
No. 2. 3~8 in, x 5 in., flat; at No. 3. 3~4 in. round.
16t Ao. 1. the cable has bean in use 18 months; at IIo. 2.
it ha a. been in use about 5 yo>:rs.
Gt shaft No. 1. Humble Safoty Hooks are used on the and
of the cablo. Those are inapectod regularly. '
'rhe cage is equipped with bonnet and Safoty clutches.
