MINING AND MINE METHODS.
The yew ldsble LS. Shaft is 4x9 in the clear, timbered with
square seta; the shaft is 300 feet deep and there is but
one level.
'The work is carried on at the present time ~n virgin ground
on the 300 foot level.
The hoisting is done by means of buQkets. The men are
raised and lowered by hoisting machinery. The weight hoisted
is 1800 pounds,.distrnce hoisted 3!'0 feet.
The cable is a ono inch round, in poor condition, having
bean in use severEl years. Safety chain and clamps are
used on the end of the cable and they do not know when

this was changed. Ito safety device is provided to prevent
over-winding. L:aterial is hoisted from but one level.
The bell line is a 1~4 inch wire lino attach e3 to an 8 inch
gong. The State code of L'ignals is employed. This code of
signals is posted in tho engine room only.
r.ll persona are prohibited Yrom riding on tho loaded bucket.
This order is not placed near the collar .of shaft.

also place a bulkhead in the shaft over the shaft man.
