Dear Sir:
I have been asked tar an opinion concerning the tunnel your company propose from the
valley of Clear Creek to and beneath the Freeland, Lantar[ine and many other well latown mines
of that section.
'_ Complying with that request, I will say that I consider it one of the best tunnel schemes
I have ever heard mentioned. The location of point of commencement, near the creek and iu
close proximity to the railway, could not be excelled, guaranteeing as it does accessibility at all
seasmis of the year, a very material consideration in the economical prosecution of a work of such
magnitude.
The section of country along the line of your proposed tunnel is one of the best mineralized
in this part of the state, has produced and is producing to-day a large amomtt of good grade ore.
I know of no section of the county that I should prefer, to exploit by tunnel, to this. Ifprose-
cuted to completion it should Prove the outlet for a vast amount of wealth.
I am, sincerely yours,
- °*1°- JACOB J. ELLIOTT.
