III. Comments/Compliance
This was a partial inspection conducted by Jim Burnell of CDMG on the morning of Friday,
May 25, 2005. This site was quiet and deserted. The weather was warm and sunny.
At the East Mine, in the reclaimed area below the road showed no signs of off-site impact,
erosion or instability. Vegetation was doing well. Patches of whitetop had been sprayed
earlier in the week by OMLLC. There was a great deal of cheatgrass, especially near the
road.
Over most of the length of the area between the reclaimed area and the river is a small
berm. This berm is intact, except at one low point, and there is no sign of any sediment
transport into the river the whole way along the East Mine area. The roughened, uneven
surface of the reclaimed area has helped prevent erosion.
The road ditches were contained some water. There had been some slumping of material
from above the road onto the new road surface.
At the Middle Mine, there were no signs of erosion or instability that haven't been there
before. Most of the snow was gone from this steeper, south-facing slope, although there
were patches of snow cover.
There was no erosion in the former silo area. The pond was wet. The embankments were
stable. The vegetation was excellent.
