COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the
inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
A partial inspection of the Apex No. 2 Mine was conducted by
Christine Johnston of the Division. At the time of the inspection
it was cloudy and cool and there was about 4-5 inches of snow on
the ground. The snow prevented a detailed inspection.
ROADS
The reclaimed portal access road was inspected. A berm has been
placed where the portal access road crosses the county road at the
south end of the site. The berm prevents access to the reclaimed .
road but this area should be regraded further. There has been a
rockslide which has deposited the material on this road. It
appears that the rockslide appeared some time ago.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE
The pond did not hold any water at the time of the inspection. The
spillway was inspected and found to be clear. The dip section in
the county road is clear and functioning. The dip is also well
marked by signs in both directions on the county road. The geoweb
material which has been placed in the drainage upstream of the dip
section appears to continue to be stable.
No problems requiring immediate attention were identified.
