Blasting Plan <br />The 8-Mile Clay Mine (Permit # M-1977-320) <br />This plan is intended to present guidance, control, data and information that <br />will serve the 8-Mile Clay Mine of Summit brick & Tile Co, Shooting at this <br />site should follow these procedures, limiting charge size, number of shot holes, <br />and the recommended controls. Below is a general list of controls and <br />procedures which Summit Brick's blasting contractor will follow. <br />1. A licensed blasting contractor, who is qualified and <br />maintains the expertise in all phases of the work, will <br />conduct blasting. <br />2. The blasting contractor will be entirely responsible for <br />supplying, storage, and handling of all blasting <br />materials, in addition, he will maintain the security, <br />traffic control if blasting within 1000 ft. of any public <br />road as prescribed within this document. <br />3. There will be no shooting within 50 feet of a buried <br />phone line, or within 100 ft. of public Road, and 750 ft. <br />of a paved State Road 9. <br />4. Size and charge set for each shoot will comply with the <br />"8- millisecond rule" or other timing delay which <br />meets standards, and use less thanl4 lbs. of explosive <br />agents. <br />5. There may be small limited amounts of blasting <br />materials, which are stored on site; however, these <br />will be stored in approved powder magazine storage <br />units. <br />6. All shot holes will be stemmed (covered) with a <br />minimum of 2 ft. of dirt on holes less than 15 feet <br />deep, and 3 ft. of dirt on holes which are greater than <br />15 feet deep, prior to any shot being set off. <br />
