Furthermore, seed deposition along the fences creates a new generation of weeds the
next year that add even more weed seed to the soils. Although the operator cannot be responsible fox weed
infestations on adjacent properties, an aggressive control program on this property will still be necessary to
effectively reclaim the site, whether an amendment is successful ox not.
In short, there axe a number of issues that need to be addressed regarding this site in the process of
developing an amendment, not the least of which is the issue of Special Use Permitting. If you desire I can
keep you informed of progress on the amendment. Unfortunately, due to the complexity of the
amendment I am not able to provide you with a reliable estimate as to when that amendment would be
submitted, but tentatively I believe something should be ready by mid to late summer. At this time it
appears approaching the Special Use Permit issue first is the most important step. If the issues there cannot
be solved there is not a great deal of point in spending a great deal of time in creating a Reclamation Permit
amendment beyond that amount of planning required to address any county concerns regarding
reclamation issues.
If you have any questions, please call.
Sincerely,
~~~`~
~~'/ V
Mark A.
