III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made <br />dunng the inspection, Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection <br />and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was a partial inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of Minerals <br />and Geology (Division). Ground conditions were generally dry and the weather was <br />unseasonably warm. <br />Hydrologic Balance <br />A number of former ground water monitoring wells are in various stages of final reclamation. <br />Completion of abandonment and reclamation. Along with submittal of the respective reports <br />is necessary prior to final bond release. <br />Reveaetation <br />The main facility area vegetation is dormant for the season. The operator plans to sample <br />the site again this coming growing season for final bond release. <br />Offsite Suoaort Facilities <br />The Division of Wildlife has completed construction of a warehouse immediately west of the <br />mine entrance road and north of the former railroad grade. This facility is not associated with <br />the mine disturbance. <br />Soil Methane Area <br />Areas affected by <br />methane in the soil <br />profile are bare <br />due to lack of <br />vegetation and the <br />winter season. <br />This area will be <br />reviewed in detail <br />this spring to <br />determine if new <br />vegetation growth <br />associated with <br />declines in <br />methane levels <br />The area will <br />continue to be <br />monitored. <br /> <br />Overall, the site appeared normal for the winter season and no problems were noted <br />
