A site inspection was made of the recently permitted Chaparral #2 Pit, located <br />approximately 20 miles southeast of Hartsel and near Eleven Mile Reservoir. <br />2. The Chaparral #2 Pit is permitted for 7,75 acres of disturbance. The post-mining land <br />use is rangeland. <br />3. The site entrance sign was posted and the operator was in the process of installing all <br />of the permit boundary markers. <br />4. There was no disturbance at the time of inspection. Photographs of the undisturbed <br />rangeland were taken. <br />5. The operator inquired about the salvaging of topsoil as the site is very rocky and <br />contains only a thin veneer of topsoil.
