• (Page 2)
-MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-84-185
INSPECTION DATE 2 00
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS AJW
This was a normal monitoring inspection conducted by Tony Waldron of DMG along with Pete
Aragon of Lincoln County. The site is located approximately 12.7 miles north of Genoa,
Colorado on State Hwy 109. The pit is situated in and on both sides of the Arickaree River
on the east side of the highway.
The county was hauling material out of this site during this inspection. Basically the
material is dozed out of the creek bed and up on to the south side of the channel where it
is then loaded into trucks to be transported off site. There is a small area on the
norhtwest side of the pit where clay is being mined, apparently for use as a binder when
applied to the roads with the sand and gravel from the river channel.
There was a mine identification sign posted at the northwest entrance to the mine site and
three of the four permit boundary markers were posted. However, the southeast marker was not
present and this is being cited as a problem on page three of this report. This presence
of this marker is important since the northeast marker is not visble from the south side of
the creek. As a result, the southeast marker is necessary so that the operator can determine
where the east permit boundary is when working in the creek. As it was, they had gotten
close to the east boundary at the time of this inspection, but were not planning to continue
excavation operations at this pit.
No other problems or possible violations were noted and this concluded the inspection.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Pete Aragon
OPERATOR Lincoln County
STREET P.O.
