~~
INSPECTION REPORT - PAGE 2
FILE N0. M-77-153
DATE: October 14, 1986
OBSERVATIONS OF IMPORTANCE:
1. Junk pile, at the southwest corner of the permit area and to the north
of the plant site contain old oil barrels.
2. Platte River rip rap consists of concrete pipes which have not been
treated as per Jim McArdle's August, 1984 inspection report.
3. Oil has been spilled on the road and in the equipment storage area to
the north of the plant area. It appears as if equipment crankcase oil
is drained onto the ground whenever machinery oil is changed.
4. Slopes around the lakes are being treated to reduce them to less than
3:1. The operator is encouraged to continue this practice and keep the
Division posted on progress through annual reports. The operator may
want to contact the Division of Wildlife to obtain suggestions for
gravel pit revegetation.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. The operator must submit a reclamation timetable to the Division within
60 days which clearly addresses, in detail:
a. how and when present oil spill areas will be cleaned up; and,
b. how and when the concrete pipes (which are now used for rip rap on
the South Platte River banks) will be removed or treated to make them an
acceptable rip rap material.
/tmb
4514E
