(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-1977-319
INSPECTION DATE 8/25/05
OBSERVATIONS
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS RCO
This inspection was performed by the Division in response to the operator's bond release request that was submitted to the
Division. The operator was contacted about the inspection, and the operator (named on page one) was present during the
inspection.
The required permit ID sign was posted along the access road about 100 feet inside the locked entrance gate. The permit
corner markers were present.
The site has been in reclamation stage for a few years, and the operator has made consistent progress toward completing the
tasks listed in the approved plan.
The slopes on the north side of the site, as well as the pit floor and pit entrance ramp, all exhibit good slope grading and topsoil
replacement. Those areas have been well revegetated in accordance with the approved plan. Species observed include
western wheatgrass, bluegrama, and sainfoin, plus rabbitbrush. Ponderosa pines have established themselves along the
margins of the disturbed area over the years, adding to the overall reclamation of the site.
The approved reclamation plan allows for leaving the steep highwall on the southern part of the permit. Its height is reduced by
the placement of backfill material against the toe of the face. The slopes of the backfill have been graded and revegetated
adequately. The western end of the pit floor contains a small area of wet ground, though it appears that all surface water drains
from the site.
The operator has had to perform repeated seeding of problem areas, and control erosion in a small area on the eastern end.
These issues appeared to have been addressed. The operator has a few cattle on the property, but it does appear that there is
any overgrazing or ocher adverse impact on the site. There is ample evidence of deer on the site.
The site did not exhibit any annual or noxious weeds. There was no stockpiled material, no equipment, no debris and no
contaminants.
This operator has satisfied the requirements of the approved reclamation plan, and the request for release of the bond is
approved. A formal approval letter and the returned bond will be sent to the operator under separate cover.
No further items were observed during the inspection. Responses to this inspection report should be directed to the Division of
Minerals and Geology, 701 Camino del Rio, Room 125, Durango, Colorado 81301, Attn: Bob Oswald; phone no.970-247-5193.
I & E Contact Address
NAME
OPERATOR
STREET
CITY/STATE/ZIP
Michael Steiner
Persolite Products.
