Scott Smith
indicated that the hydroseeding company was due to return to the site in the next couple of weeks. The Division suggested
that the upper portion of the outslope, just below the pit area, be hydroseeded as well, in an effort to stabilize this slope
with vegetation and minimize erosion and sedimentation. This task is not required because this was apre-existing condition
and adjacent non-mined slopes are just as bare and steep.
The drum and buckets of petroleum products, that was on site during the last inspection, has been removed from site
Slopes on site, that are required to be maintained at a grade of 2.5:1 or less, have been reduced to that grade, except for
a small face on the north side of the wetland, east of the access road, near the penstock repair location. Mr. Smith was
instructed to reduce the slope of that face to 2.5:1 or less.
An excavator was on site during the inspection, picking large rocks out of the mine slope, for use as riprap. The excavator
was then going to be used to clean up the sedimentation deposit noted in the Division's 11)23/1999 inspection report. This
area should be seeded after clean-up is complete.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to:
Division of Minerals and Geology, 701 Camino Del Rio, Room 125, Durango, Colorado 81301, Attn: Steve Shuey, phone
no. 970-247-5062.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Scott Smith
OPERATOR Pathfinder Development.
