III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during
the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the
facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection of the Carbon Junction Mine conducted by Tom Gillis of CDMG. No one
represented the operator during the field portion of the inspection. The mine site was moderately wet due
to rainfall over the past few days, but unpaved roadways were still passable.
Roads
The routine ditch & culvert maintenance work referenced in the previous inspection still needs to be
undertaken in the near future to ensure that the drainage control system continues to function properly. It
appears that the operator has done some borrow ditch repair work on the road leading to the North pit.
Hvdroloaic Balance
Ponds were inspected and found to be functioning properly. Despite significant rainfall during the past few
days, the large pond adjacent to the spoil pile was dry. The water level in the smaller pond situated below
the access road was about the same as observed during previous inspections.
