(Page 2)

MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-88-090
INSPECTION DATE 9/29/99 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS TAS
OBSERVATIONS
1. A site inspection was made of the Deer Trail Pit located 1 mile southwest of Deer Trail.
The inspection was made as part of the Division's 4-year inspection program. Present during
the inspection was Mr. Wayne Pipken.

2. The Deer Trail Pit is currently permitted as a regular 112 operation for a total of 110
acres. The operator has posted a financial warranty of $45,012 and has committed to a
maximum disturbance of 15 acres at any one time. The maximum disturbance allowed consists
of 5 acres of active mining disturbance, 5 acres of moderate disturbance undergoing
backfilling and grading and topsoil reapplication, and 5 acres of minor disturbance
undergoing revegetation. The designated post-mining land use is pastureland. Permit No. M-
88-090 consists of a prior 10 acre 111 permit (M-96-011) and a recently converted 10 acre 110
permit (M-88-090).
3. The site is in compliance with the requirements of Rule 3.1.12 for signs and markers.
4. There is currently active pit disturbance in the southwest portion of the permit area.
Mining disturbances were found to be well within the permit boundary and appear to be in
compliance with the mine plan. Surrounding disturbances in the previous 111 permit area have
been backfilled, graded, and seeded. These areas contain a heavy weed cover; however, there
was no evidence of noxious weeds present. Since these areas were seeded more than 3 growing
seasons ago, the Division recommends that the operator reseed them according to the approved
revegetation plan. Drill seeding into the existing vegetative cover is preferred over
broadcast seeding. The existing financial warranty is adequate to complete the reclamation
plan for current disturbances at the Deer Trail Pit.
5. There was no evidence of surface or groundwater present.
6. There were no problems noted.
I & E Contact Address
~ CE
NAME Wavne Pipken ~ BL
OPERATOR TWK Enterprises, Inc. ~ FS
STREET P.0.
