III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the
inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a complete inspection of the Hamilton Mine for the month of July, 1996.
Records were inspected and found to be satisfactory. Amore detailed account of the records
review can be found on page 5 of this report.
A very large thunderstorm event occurred a week prior to this inspection and as a result of this
storm, the surface of the road at the southeast corner of the disturbed area eroded and will
require maintenance to restore it to an approved condition.
Pond A had a trace amount of water left in it from the storm but was not discharging. Pond B
had about 5 feet of water in it but it too was not discharging. Both ponds were stable. The
drainage ditch leading to pond B down the access road has filled with sediment and will require
maintenance to restore it to designed specified conditions.
The site was drill seeded last fall with the approved seed mix and poly-acrilimides but due to the
drought like conditions that have prevailed this season, very little grass growth is evident. The
major vegetative cover is Russian Thistle, however, this is still providing good cover for erosion.
